If a saddle underwent any repairs, it is noted in the comment section what kind of repairs have been done. Most of the time, repairs are done at the brand factory or by an authorized saddler in order to respect the genuine style and quality of the saddle.
8) I need help to understand the flap’s sizing.
Each saddle’s brand has its own way to reference the flap sizing.
The flap is measured in two dimensions, first measurement being the length and second being the forwardness of the flaps.
All brands are using numbers from 0 to 5 (the shortest to the longest) in order to size the length of the flaps. Most are using letters to indicate the forwardness of the flaps. For example, at Devoucoux or Antares, letter A or AA give the information regarding extra forwardness of the flaps. Others such as Butet, are not using letters to indicate the forwardness of the flaps but instead they use a fraction next to the flap number.
9) Can having my personal measurements be useful in sizing a saddle for me or for evaluating the fit of a saddle for me?
Not really, Though it is very important to pick the right size for the seat and most of the time, riders have a good idea of what they need.
Regarding the length of the flaps; since for most brands the #2 is the average length, it is easy to figure out the length needed.
Forwardness is essentially based on your riding style: In the Jumper ring, and because of the speed requirements, you need to go shorter on your stirrups than a Hunter rider. Therefore Jumper riders will need more forward flaps than Hunter riders.
It takes more forward flap on the saddle for a rider using short stirrups than for a rider using long stirrups. The length of the thigh has to be considered in this equation but this is more dependant upon riding style than upon body type. A rider with long thighs and long stirrups will need a saddle with longer flaps in general, and very often the standard forwardness is enough with longer flaps.
The best solution is to try the saddle on and use it as a test saddle in order to evaluate your needs. This is why French-used-saddles.com has a 5-day no-hassle trial policy: French-used-saddles.com allows a customer to try a saddle on a trial basis in order to be sure that the saddle works for you and the horse.
10) My friend’s saddle fits me and my horse perfectly. How can I be sure that the one I saw listed in your website is the same saddle?
Easy. There are some information written on your friend’s saddle such as the serial number, the name of the model, the size of the seat and the reference of the flaps. You need to provide us with all these information and we will let you know if the saddle you saw listed on the website is the same or how different it is.
11) How fast can you ship the saddle to me?
We normally ship the saddle UPS ground within the next 24 hours after your payment has been processed. We ship from California and it takes 5 working days to the saddle to be delivered on the East Coast. The closer you are from California, the less time it takes for the saddle to be delivered. Overnight delivery is possible only upon request. In such a case you will be charged appropriately for rush services.
12) How about the frenchusedsaddles.com on the Antares website and your website French-Used-Saddles.com, are they related? Are they the same website with the same inventory?
Olivier is the owner of French-Used-Saddles.com. Both websites are separately owned entities that are working with their own inventory.
What you will find in French-Used-Saddles.com and in the Antares website frenchusedsaddles.com, is not the same inventory.
13) Are the photographs of the saddles the actual saddle for sale?
The photographs of the saddles are examples of Brand
and Model ONLY and not representational of the specific saddle for sale at French-Used-Saddles.com. Actual pictures may be sent upon request.
14) When returning a saddle how should I package it?
When a saddle has to be returned to us, Please don't use pop corn or styrofoam peanuts !
